Gemini
The shape: two parallel chains of stars with Castor and Pollux at the top.
Castor and Pollux were inseparable brothers. When Castor died, the immortal Pollux asked his father Zeus to let him share his eternal life with his brother. So now they stand together in the sky – two bright stars, head to head.
The stars of the figure
From bright to faint. Brightness is given in magnitudes (mag): the smaller the number, the brighter the star.
- Pollux · 1.14 mag
- Castor · 1.58 mag
- Alhena · 1.93 mag
- Tejat · 2.87 mag
- Mebsuta · 2.98 mag
- Wasat · 3.53 mag
